Frequently Asked Questions.

Yes. Wheat is a totally natural product - it's grown not made - whereas corn starch requires specific land usage, vast amounts of processing and only composts in industrial composting facilities. Wheat will break down and compost  on its own.

Yes. 1) wheat requires minimal manufacturing - no deforestation, no paper pulping and no straw manufacturing facilities, plus no glue additive needed. 2) Wheat handles hot & cold drinks without going soggy or disintegrating in your drink - paper lasts for 2 minutes which is a complete waste of money!

Our wheat comes from two sources: Bavaria in Germany, and the Hebei region in the Far East, China. The straws from each location are organic and free-from pesticides and herbicides. From 2019 the crops from Hebei will be cut from the field by workers with handheld sythes - reducing their environmental footprint even further.

The 250 pack contains straws 21.5cm long. The 60 pack contains straws 23cm long.

Yes. Although the straws are designed for disposable, single-use; if you were to drink a few drinks throughout the evening, the same straw could be used. When you're done, simply toss it in the compost bin to return it to the soil it came from!

Our straws are free-from gluten allergies, as the gluten protein is stored in the grain, not the stem (<20ppm). If you suffer specifically from a wheat allergy: we recommend you consult a qualified medical expert before using our straws. Although the straw is not consumed, any form of contact with wheat proteins may result in a reaction.

Yes. We have conducted pesticide testing to confirm the straws are free-from pesticides, and also gluten testing to confirm they are gluten-free. Certification may be viewed on request.
